Proud to be a Changemaker with West Kent Mind

Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace

Our Commitment to Mental Health and Wellbeing

As we approach World Mental Health Day on 10 October, it is a timely reminder that mental health and wellbeing should not just be a tick box activity for companies.

At DSR Global our commitment to the wellbeing of our employees goes beyond the minimum and strives to set a standard for workplace mental health. We wouldn’t be able to do this alone, so are very lucky to work alongside a trusted charity, West Kent Mind, as part of their Changemaker program.

The recruitment industry is known as fast paced and high stress, so even more important that we provide the tools and support for our staff to thrive.  Adding real value, the Changemaker program provides us with a flexible workplace wellbeing solution designed to create measurable improvement in engagement, confidence, and culture.

When people feel supported, they perform better, stay longer, and contribute more.

So what does this mean in practice for DSR?

Staff Training

Educating staff members comes in different forms, such as:

✅ Regular online courses and refresher training for workplace mental health through our HR partner

✅ Training on topics such as resilience and confidence via external partners

✅ Mental Health for Managers and Mental Health Awareness workshops from our partnership with West Kent Mind

Next week, West Kent Mind will be running one of their Optimal Wellbeing sessions with our team to ensure that staff have the tools to make positive changes that are personal to their own wellbeing.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Care

Mental health and wellbeing in the workplace goes beyond completing courses.

We have:

✅ a fully qualified Mental Health First Aider as part of the team

✅ a hub of independent resources and support services that staff can access at any time

✅ an Employee Assistance program

✅ supportive policies to facilitate work life balance.

Staying Active at DSR

We all know that engaging in physical activity can significantly enhance mental health and being active at DSR is strongly encouraged.

We like to facilitate our staff to get involved in active events where we can. For example:

✅ Gym membership for our employees is a core benefit

✅ A DSR sports day

✅ Regular golfing opportunities for those who play

✅ An upcoming team activity day that will include the chance to try curling

Earlier this year we held a company “Padel and Pint” event supporting the West Kent Mind #MoveForMentalHealth initiative, raising valuable funds for Mind whilst spending time together out of the office in a relaxed, fun, if not a little competitive, environment!

All of these events, tools and training contribute to our holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing and aim to ensure that the DSR approach is proactive rather than reactive. A team that feel supported and confident in DSR having their mental health and wellbeing at the top of the agenda is our objective.
